Catch greenwashing risk
before the EU does

Green Claims scans your Shopify product and blog copy for risky environmental claims under the EU’s EmpCo Directive, lets you attach evidence to each flagged claim, and exports a dated, audit-ready pack on demand — before enforcement starts on 27 September 2026.

Banned — copy change needed

Find it, back it,
prove it

A rules-based scan, an evidence vault to back up the claims you can keep, and a paper trail for the ones you can’t.

Catalogue-wide scanning
Every product, blog post, and page is scanned on install and re-scanned automatically whenever you edit one — no manual re-checking.
Evidence vault
Attach certificates, lab results, or LCA reports to a specific claim. Expiry dates are tracked, and a claim reverts to unsubstantiated automatically once its evidence lapses.
Banned claims flagged correctly
Offset-based claims like “carbon neutral” can’t be fixed with evidence under EmpCo — Green Claims tells you the copy itself needs to change, not just “add a certificate”.
Multi-language detection
Term lists for English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian, so stores trading across the EU aren’t limited to English-only scanning.
Audit export
Generate a dated PDF or CSV export of every claim, its status, and its evidence — with a SHA-256 checksum alongside it, so the file you hand a regulator can be independently verified.
Your own terms too
Add brand-specific or industry phrases on top of the fixed EU term list, so detection covers language the regulation doesn’t name explicitly but your store actually uses.

A hard deadline,
not a draft proposal

The EU’s Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (Directive (EU) 2024/825, “EmpCo”) applies from 27 September 2026 and bans misleading environmental claims (“greenwashing”) in commercial communications, including product listings and marketing copy. National consumer authorities can fine non-compliant traders up to 4% of annual turnover (or €2 million where turnover isn’t available), alongside other remedies such as ordering the claim removed.

This is separate from the EU’s proposed Green Claims Directive, which the European Commission paused in June 2025 — that pause has no effect here. EmpCo was already adopted in 2024 and still applies regardless.

This is general information, not legal advice — it doesn’t guarantee regulatory compliance.
